At Kumba Fostering we provide you with a comprehensive network of dedicated professionals to support you every step of the way. Our 24/7 on-call support is always available in times of need.

By developing healthy foster families, we ensure better outcomes for the children and youth placed with our foster families.

Our team is made up of dedicated, experienced and caring professionals that have been carefully selected and trained for the important task at hand.We value academic training and education as well as practical, hands-on experience which is readily shared amongst our team. Most importantly each member of the Kumba Fostering team is committed to the children placed in our care and the support of our foster families.

Dr. Uitsile MgwisiExecutive Director

After completing her Masters in public health at the University of Toronto, she then did her Doctoral (MD) training as a General Surgeon at McMaster University, Dr Mgwisi worked in Ontario southern Ontario before moving up North. Uitsile has a passion for understanding child development, child and youth mental health, child welfare and systemic factors in order to better support children and families. Uitsile is the core founder and has been with Kumba Fostering Homes since it’s formation. Dr Uitsile Mgwisi is the Executive Director at Kumba Fostering Homes.

Mr. Cliff MgwisiBusiness Managing Director

Cliff is the Executive Business Managing at Kumba Fostering Homes, He completing his Bachelor of Science in Electrical engineering in 2005 at Siena Heights University in Adrian, Michigan, Cliff worked at TTR as a signals engineer from May 2008. Following this, he continued his schooling and obtained his Project management certificate from Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson University, while working as a project coordinator, and supervising and training employees. Cliff then moved into the role of Project Manager at Toronto Terminals Railway Services in 2014, after obtaining his Project Management certificate. Today Cliff uses his management experience to serve as the Business Managing Director for Kumba Fostering. Along with overseeing all aspects of management and operations, Cliff focuses much of his attention on the housing needs of the children as well as the training of support professionals.

Blessing MpofuDirector of Support & Learning

Blessing a Registered Practical Nurse and a mom two boys. She started off with a Licensed Practical Nurse Degree from Lake Michigan College in the USA| Sept. 2001 – Aug. 2004 she then obtained her Registered Practical Nurse | Centennial College | Sept. 2009 – Aug. 2010 before she went to Toronto Metropolitan University and received Bachelor of Nursing Science. Blessing empathizes and relates deeply with the clients and Stuff she supervises. She believes that curiosity is the key to compassion in fostering. She loves to continue learning and implementing trauma informed practices in her work and at home.

Blessing has been Responsible for clinical leadership in the community, human resource management of clinical services and field staff, ensuring excellence in the care and service delivery provided

Effectively interacted with clients, families, contractors, and staff

Reviewed all client safety incidents and participated in their investigation and resolution.

Timely responded to and resolved urgent clinical concerns from staff, clients and families

Conducted in-home client assessments, collaborated with client, family and team to create and update care-plans

Involved in the editing and updating of company policy and procedures

Ensured completion of all mandatory training and skill development for all staff

Participated in the interviewing, orientation, ongoing supervision and performance management of staff

Worked collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver client centered care.

Maintained continuous learning and professional development through involvement in conferences, committees, Accreditation Canada and networks

Exemplary displayed respect for cultural needs, dignity, privacy and confidentiality of staff and clients

Ensured compliance to company policies. Blessing focuses on staff hiring and training.

EMPOWERMENT

At Kumba Fostering, we empower youth with the tools and confidence to take charge of their lives and transition into independent adulthood. Through our staff-led Life-Skills Training, we focus on key areas like personal wellness, household management, community resource navigation, and faith development. We also create a safe space for learning and reflection, where youth grow through meaningful, family-like conversations and real-life experiences.
